Watch of the Month – Circularis Power Reserve

On celebrating – and gathering strength.

Our Watch of the Month is a real gem, even if the name doesn’t sound like it: “CCP317G” is the official name of the model known as the “Circularis Gangreserve” with its steel-gray dial and gold-colored chromed indices. To our great delight, the German Design Council has just given this timepiece the German Design Award and its strongly contrasting gray and gold color scheme makes it a perfect match for the dark but festive month of December.

Highlights

After all, in the month with the shortest days there is no shortage of highlights in the early hours of the evening as well as in the long nights – with all kinds of Christmas lights, of course, and dazzling New Year’s Eve fireworks. The Circularis is a self-assured companion at major festivities. With the right wrist strap it matches well with evening wear and the sunburst design of the dial and the numerals also reflect candlelight with exceptional beauty. And in the end, anyone glancing at the single hour hand of the Circularis at a party just needs a general idea and doesn’t want to pedantically divide the time spent there into minutes and seconds.

At the end of the year

This watch is named “Circularis” because its design language is determined by circles. In addition to its fully circular elements, there is also the unusual semicircle of the power reserve display. The two mainspring barrels built into the movement store energy for 120 hours of precision timekeeping, which means the watch only needs to be wound manually once every few days. Between Christmas parties and buying presents, anyone who takes the time might also think about the geometry of the watch as the small hand of the power reserve slowly moves forward: The circle is the perfect form for displaying the time because every day is followed by another – and December is often said to round off the year. However, energy is not something that simply flows to us time and again – we have to generate a fresh supply ourselves, so it is a good thing to remember where we get it from every now and then.

But, of course, we don’t reflect too long, as after all it is December, there is a lot to celebrate – and plenty of new highlights to look forward to.
