Watch of the Month – Salthora Meta X Transparent
The visible clack
Gathering power, releasing power: The Salthora Meta X Transparent makes everything visible – and that’s why it’s our Watch of the Month.
The great art of watchmaking involves the judicious use of energy. After all, the aim is to keep a complex mechanism consisting of a large number of single parts running in exactly the same way for as long as possible. Some of these parts are delicate and sensitive and yet have to reliably perform rapid movements such as smooth rotation, high-frequency oscillation, or sudden jumps. It is a great technical challenge to ensure that these parts are made as accurately as possible and do not interfere with the smooth running of the movement, despite their weight.
Snail on the wheel
With the Salthora, MeisterSinger has quite an unusual mechanism in its range. Every 60 minutes it switches the “jumping hour” display one step further, extremely suddenly and precisely, with a quiet, deep “clack.” The energy required for this purpose is accumulated for exactly one hour at a time by the snail mounted on the minute wheel, thus ensuring the powerful and precisely balanced movement of the actuating lever. Complicated? Yes, a little, but it makes sense when you watch the module, especially developed for MeisterSinger, slowly gathering and quickly releasing the power.
That’s possible with the Salthora Meta X Transparent, because it doesn’t have a dial and therefore exposes the mechanism working underneath, where the module is meticulously highlighted. Its steel parts stand out clearly against the blackened background of the movement. The circle with the hour numerals is also open here, making the system of the jumping hour evident.
Bracelet from Monaco
This dynamic interplay is also reflected by the Salthora Meta X Transparent in its entire design. With its sturdy case and rotating bezel, it is a watch for any terrain – and all the more surprising there, where you seldom see watches that reveal a rare complication.
But the Salthora Meta X Transparent also remains rare, as there are only 150 of them. Another exclusive feature is the braided bracelet in a matching color that comes with the watch, as the maker Albanu in Monaco designed it especially for MeisterSinger. Water-resistant and highly robust, it ideally matches the strong character of this exceptional timepiece.
