Watch of the Month – Perigraph

Small change – big difference

The two new Perigraph models have a two-tone dial and a completely different, energetic character. Enough reason to make them our Watches of the Month.

Among MeisterSinger connoisseurs, there are some who consider the Perigraph to be even more brand-typical than the original MeisterSinger N° 01: because it extends the idea of displaying the time by showing also the date. With an open date ring that not only ensures symmetrical regularity, but also provides a sovereign overview of the course of the month. The fact that this ring is positioned somewhat lower than the surrounding dial creates enough structure. It therefore has the same colour from the outset, in keeping with the functional, restrained design.

Striking contrasts

The later introduced Pangaea Day Date with two date rings suggested a different solution to ensure spontaneous readability. In addition to monochrome versions, two models with striking colour contrasts were developed, which clearly structure the display.

Their great success, however, may have something to do with the fact that they appear more dynamic, some say… sportier than the ones with the monochrome dials. And this change of character also works for the Perigraph by using similar unusual colour combinations. For the first model, striking, dark tones stand side by side, differing in their surface structure again and again in changing light. The majority of the dial is deep blue and has a sunburst, its outer edge and the date ring are matt black. White typography and red markings ensure good readability on the dark background.

Strong straps

The second variant shows the expressive colour contrast of shimmering blue on the dial and matt light grey on the date ring. Light grey, not white, otherwise a cheerful maritime ring pattern might have been created. But if grey and blue remind you of water and wind – you are not that wrong.

The matt stainless steel case makes the new models clearly suitable for leisure time, and their strong leather straps give them an additional character. Of course they are also suitable as a dress watch – but they make a small difference with a big effect.
